VENICE – PGT Inc., the local manufacturer of impact-resistant windows and doors, has changed its name to PGT Innovations.
The company said Wednesday the new brand reflects looking to the future of the industry and the next generation of products. The new name also unites PGT’s three manufacturing brands – CGI, PGT Custom Windows & Doors and WinDoor – the company said in an announcement.
In September, PGT announced that it was establishing a new subsidiary, CGI Commercial, and buying an established fabricator of storefront window and door products, US Impact Systems, for $2 million. PGT said the acquisition of US Impact Systems supports the Venice company’s expansion into the commercial market, adding capabilities such as fabricating and glazing window and door frames for commercial products.
CGI Commercial is operating under the PGT family of brands as a subsidiary of CGI Windows & Doors, a Miami company that also makes storm-resistant products, which PGT bought last year for $111 million.
Earlier this year, PGT closed its $102 million acquisition of WinDoor Inc., an Orlando company that also makes impact-resistant windows and doors and that PGT has kept as a separate and distinct brand.
